Built in the same Victorian style as the future hotel, the Boathouse, Coronado’s oldest landmark, was completed in July 1887.  Skilled laborers were hard to find during the building boom in San Diego and it is believed that Boathouse construction provided training to workers hired to build the Hotel.  In 1968 the Boathouse was moved seventy feet close into the shoreline to its present location.

Still standing after all these years, the boathouse was lovingly restored and turned into the Chart House restaurant from 1968 until 2001 when it changed owners, becoming a different restaurant.  Today the boathouse is home to Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill.
